If Your Life Was A Movie And It Had A Soundtrack….

I found this meme on Facebook, and lacking anything more interesting to write about, thought I’d grab it for a post.

How to do it:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc.)
2. Put it on Shuffle.
3. Press Play.
4. For every question, type the song that’s playing.
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button.
6. Be honest.

OPENING CREDITS
Holywood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death) by Marilyn Manson – that’s not an auspicious start

WAKING UP
Let’s Get it On by Marvin Gaye – I can see how that would work, but we’ll move on. I’m not lowering the tone this early in the post.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
A Little Piece of Heaven by Avenged Sevenfold* – love that song :-) Don’t think it would have been included in sing-a-longs in reception class though.

FALLING IN LOVE
Midnight in this Lonely City by Graham English – who can be found on Twitter. It’s not a falling in love song though, more suitable for the unrequited variety

FIGHT SONG
I Walk on Gilded Splinters by Paul Weller – I like him, but that’s not one of his better songs. I was going to stay it’s bit limp for a fight song, but that actually suits me.

BREAKING UP
Highway to Hell by AC/DC – that kind of fits, we’ve all known people like that

PROM
Design for Life by Manic Street Preachers – would that be a prom song? No idea, they hadn’t been imported when I was at school.

LIFE IS GOOD
Can’t Get Enough by Bad Company – I have no idea where that came from. Honestly! It’s ok though.

MENTAL BREAKDOWN
Boom Boom by John Lee Hooker – the first time I heard that song it was being played by a one-eyed, Dutch barman. No really! That’s not the first line of a joke.

DRIVING
Imagine by John Lennon - I’m sure someone is adding music to my computer. I hate that song! In fact, I’m cheating and having another because that’s so not one of mine.

DRIVING 2
At the River by Groove Armada – that’s better.

FLASHBACK
Give It Away by Red Hot Chili Peppers – glad they got in :-) Dunno if it’s a flashback song. Is there such a thing?

GETTING BACK TOGETHER
The Perfect Drug by Nine Inch Nails – that one fits in a slightly obsessive way

FINAL BATTLE
20th Century Boy by T Rex – not a battle song, but it is one of the coolest ever written!

DEATH SCENE
Snow by Red Hot Chili Peppers – that works really well, snow is a symbol for death in art and literature.

FUNERAL SONG
Stand By Me – by Ben E King – a bit jolly for a funeral, me thinks. Then again, I can’t really talk, I wanted Gracie Fields’ Sing As You Wave Me Goodbye played at mine.

CREDITS
Autumn Song by Manic Street Preachers – singing ‘now baby what you done to your hair’ yes, I really like this one :-)

Hmm. Not sure if that really works as a soundtrack to my life. And I’m wondering about some of the music I listen to, is it normal to have such a mixture of genres?

* I should probably say: when I first heard that song, I didn’t actually know what it was about, and only found out the truth when I Googled the lyrics after overhearing the Bloglets muttering about how strange it was that I liked it.
