My Imaginary Friends
Some of you may have noticed a bit of a jump in the subscriber stats for your blogs – I gained more than 300 overnight. The reason for this can be found here, but in a nutshell, the extra ‘readers’ are actually your followers on Friendfeed. Opinions on this development seem to be mixed; some are thrilled to have a more impressive number; others (myself included) say it’s meaningless because those people are not necessarily going to read your posts, and didn’t specifically opt in to do so, as genuine subscribers did.
Personally, I think it’s a pain in the bum to have to use a calculator every time I want to know my real subscriber count, but I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on this. Is potential reach as important, or as relevant as, genuinely interested readers?
And finally, probably the only zombie fiction I’ve ever enjoyed, go have a read.
(BTW While writing this, I’m listening to a U2 song which includes the line “Every beauty should go out with an idiot”. I’m guessing that must be Mrs Bono’s philosophy because, well, he is, isn’t he?)
I appreciate you dropping by,
