This was really more amusing than annoying – I spotted the email above while searching my spam folder for a genuine one. I have no comment to make about it except to say it’s so spammy it borders on being a caricature of real spam. And do men really think in those terms? Please someone, tell me they don’t.
Britain’s Got Talent finished tonight, don’t ask me who won, I really don’t care because I think it’s “like some weird cult worshipping the dire and mawkish“. I do! And not only is the programme mind-numbingly awful, take a look at the site, or rather a listen. Yes, it auto-plays something, a design faux pas which ranks alongside violet text on a patterned background for sheer ineptitude. I don’t know who designed it but, quite frankly, they should be banned from ever going within 10 feet of a text editor again.
Finally, the most annoying (and depressing) thing of all: we keep getting election leaflets from the BNP* shoved through our letterbox. WHY?! Do I look like the kind of person who would vote for them? (OK, they haven’t seen me, but still.) So far we’ve received 2 (non-recyclable) glossy leaflets and, most recently, a newspaper which was delivered by 3 small children, seriously! Is that legal? Even if it is, it’s very sad and quite disturbing.
It’s also infuriating, surely the idea of going door to door is to give potential voters a chance to discuss your policies. How can one do that when the representative is no more than 7 years old? Is that the best the local group could find? Are there no adults capable of informed debate? Oh wait a minute, silly me …
* British National Party (No the ‘n’ doesn’t stand for nutty, nasty or Nazi, although I can see why some might think that) Sorry, no link, I just can’t bring myself to. Google them if you really feel you should know more.
I appreciate you dropping by,
Please leave a comment, don’t be shy
