It’s rather nice here today. Sunny, but quite cool, and a light breeze. I need to go out and mow the front lawn, or at least parts of it, it has grown rapidly over the last week or so and if it gets any longer small children will get lost in it. I won’t be doing the area the side of the house because it’s completely awash with bluebells – it looks really lovely.
I did something last night I always swore I would never do – and I even enjoyed it. I watched the Ali G. film, and laughed in places. It’s not as bad as I thought it would be. There were a lot of jokes revolving around willies and poo, but some of it was quite funny, in a silly, shouldn’t take it seriously kind of a way. Probably best avoided by the overtly pc, and maiden aunts, but for other folk, it’s watchable.
Before I go, here’s a shout out for Pete, who is a star! Some of you may remember me saying that I have been tracing my family tree, well, Pete has been a great help with this, and the poor man has been trailing around the churches of East Anglia looking for my deceased relatives. Most recently, he went to Boxted in Suffolk and took these pics. The statue of the lady featured in two of the photos is my umpteen times great grandmother, Abigail Poley. In her will she mentioned that she wanted to be buried in the chapel in Boxted that she her husband, John Poley (the other statue) had built. (I’m guessing they paid for it, she doesn’t look as though she would have been the hod carrying type)
The trouble was no mention was made of the name of said chapel, and the information I found was conflicting about the name, and even the number of churches in Boxted. Pete came to rescue, and not only identified the church, but dropped in and took photos!
I’d better say, you shouldn’t get the impression that I am descended from a lot of such noted people, the rest of my family seem to have been office clerks, vicars and farmers who, although interesting to me, probably aren’t that fascinating to anyone else.
I appreciate you dropping by,
